What is a tooth extraction?

A tooth extraction removes a tooth that is badly damaged, infected, crowded or loose. A simple extraction removes a visible tooth with instruments. A surgical extraction may involve a small incision or removing bone to reach a broken or impacted tooth.

Tooth extraction: specialist or general dentist?

General dentists do most simple extractions and many surgical ones. Oral and maxillofacial surgeons handle complex cases, such as deeply impacted teeth, teeth close to nerves, or patients who need IV sedation or general anesthesia.

None of Queensbury's 19 clinics offering tooth extractions list an oral surgeon on staff in our data yet. See oral surgeons in Queensbury

Who is the best tooth extraction dentist in Queensbury?

Empire Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery ranks #1 of 19 Queensbury clinics offering tooth extractions by DentistsRanked service score. Adirondack Smiles ranks #2. The score weighs reputation, access, services and profile data, plus a bonus for an oral surgeon on staff.

How much does a tooth extraction cost in Queensbury, NY?

A tooth extraction in Queensbury typically costs $290–$1,015 USD. By type: simple extraction, per tooth $120–$410; surgical extraction, per tooth $250–$980. These are estimates, not quotes. Basis: DentistsRanked estimate from typical fees, adjusted for New York. Ask the clinic for a written estimate.

Do general dentists in Queensbury do tooth extractions?

Typical reasons to see an oral surgeon: impacted or broken teeth, teeth near the sinus or nerves, medical conditions that complicate surgery, or when sedation is needed.

Is a tooth extraction covered by insurance or Medicaid in New York?

Many dental insurance plans cover extractions as basic care, often at 70–80% after the deductible. Surgical extractions may be billed at a different rate. Medicaid commonly covers medically necessary extractions; adult benefits vary by state.

Does a tooth extraction hurt?

The area is numbed with local anesthetic, so most patients feel pressure rather than sharp pain during an extraction. Soreness and swelling for a few days afterward are common. Your dentist will give aftercare instructions, and pain that gets worse after day three should be checked.
