Mosaic Vision Care has a surprisingly long history. The downtown Courtenay practice was founded in 1973 by Dr. John Gansner, and transferred to Dr. Mary Lynn DesRoches in 1988. Twenty years later, we became Mosaic Vision Care under local optometrist Alex Kennedy. The name "Mosaic" reflects the growing diversity within the local population, a diversity of history, ethnicities, skills, and viewpoints. Mosaic Vision Care established its second location in the Crown Isle neighbourhood of Courtenay after merging with Courtenay 1-Hour Optical.
